You have to be of a certain age to remember these fantastic Edwardian style swinging sofas, as soon as you see one memories of a bygone age coming flooding back. Grandmother and mother sat drinking tea from bone china watching as my brother and I climbed the apple tree, grandad telling us to keep off his plants as he sat filling his pipe, but most of all the memories of our *favourite den*. We hid under it, climbed all over it, and swung and swung on it until we were worn out.

I’ll never forget that day when we went round and it was gone, the race to the bottom of the garden to have first swing, but all that greeted us was a new garden bench. Was that really nearly 40 years ago! it seems like only yesterday.

If you decide beekeeping is for you we can supply you with a ready assembled beehive and a beekeepers starter pack containg all you need to start up as a beekeeper and provide further information with regard local beekeeping groups.

The photographer who came to take photos of beehives for our picture gallery was a little hesitant at first, but once we got him in his beekeeping suit he said he felt a bit more comfortable.

As can be seen by the photo below, he kept his distance at first, but soon got a bit braver and moved in closer for some nice close-ups.

He says it will take a couple of days to sort through the best ones, touch them up a bit, crop them and optimize them for web use but hopefully we will have the beehive gallery up and running over the weekend.

Hopefully if it’s a sunny day James will be modelling his new beekeeping suit and gloves and will be appearing in some action shots with the bees.

Time permitting we may even produce a couple of short Beekeeping videos which we have been told can be uploaded to our own YouTube channel.

All exiting times,  we just hope the bees behave and distract the photographer too much.

This is the first year SW Bee Hives have demonstrated at Cherington but hopefully the start of a long term event.
